Beloved M*A*S*H star, Loretta Swit, has been found dead inside her New York City apartment at the age of 87.
Loretta Swit, best known for her beloved role on the iconic 1973 sitcom ‘M*A*S*H’, has died at 87.
Swit was found dead inside her apartment in New York City at around 10am on Friday morning by her maid, according to the actress’s publicist, Harlan Boll, as reported by The Sun.
Her cause of death is yet to be determined, but Mr Boll says police believe she died from natural causes.
Swit is best known for her role as head nurse Major Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan on M*A*S*H, a performance that earned her two Emmy Awards.
Swit was one of the only actors to remain on the long-running sitcom for its entirety, appearing in all 11 seasons.
Swit received her gold star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1989, six years after she wrapped her tenure on M*A*S*H.
The 87-year-old was an animal lover who often campaigned for animal rights and had followed a vegan diet since 1981.
