John Cena movie where he’s ‘inside Amy Schumer’ comes to Netflix

A John Cena and Amy Schumer comedy that features an X-Rated scene that saw Schumer say that the WWE star was ‘inside her’ has been added to Netflix.

Schumer and Cena star in the film alongside Bill Hader and, bizarrely, Lebron James, in one of the most critically successful films of Schumer’s career.

With the 1st of May marking a flurry of new additions to the platform, US Netflix will be rejoicing to watch the bizarre comedy, leaving UK Netflix fans left out (though that isn’t to say they can’t also stream the film online).

It made headlines for Schumer’s quotes about her sex scene with Cena, but was met with a surprisingly overwhelmingly positive response from fans and critics alike.

The film, called Trainwreck, follows Schumer as a woman called Amy who believes that there is no value in relationships until she meets Dr. Aaron, played by fellow SNL alumnus Bill Hader.

She’s in a relationship with Cena’s fitness fanatic Steven, leading to a deeply awkward sex scene between them.

Schumer’s X-Rated sex scene with Cena

Schumer and Cena’s X-Rated scene features the pair going at it, leading to Schumer’s comment about him being ‘inside her’.

She joked in an interview with Australian press that his modesty was just about protected, leading her to say: “Because he was actually inside me. Who am I to stop him.

“It’s a whole universe, that butt… it’s not even human. It felt like having a refrigerator on top of me.

“I think it was probably harder for him. He had to, like, do something. I just did what I usually do when I have sex. Just lay there.

“You know what? I didn’t get to feel his balls. It’s a major regret of mine. Major regret.”

Cena himself admitted that it was a very awkward time filming the scene, saying that he didn’t even tell his fiancée at the time, fellow WWE wrestler Nikki Bella, until after he accepted the role.

What critics said about it

The film received a score of 82% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics, with a fan score of 66%.

Ian Nathan of Empire Magazine said in his four star review: “At times it feels as if five different films are going on at once, but Schumer’s whip-smart delivery and no-holds perkiness keeps it all in place.”

This was a sentiment echoed by Michael Phillips of the Chicago Tribune: “Schumer and Hader are wonderful together.

“Gender inequity in the world of comedy deserves all the overdue attention it’s getting, and more.

“But there are matters of craft, wit (no matter how crude the jokes) and timing that transcend chromosomes.”

Is it joining UK Netflix and where can you stream it in the UK?

The film is not currently slated to be added to Netflix UK.

Whilst this is easily fixed for anyone tech-savyy enough to whack on a VPN, Trainwreck is available to stream in the UK.

NOW TV is host to the Amy Schumer comedy in the UK, as well as being able to rent or buy it on Prime and the Apple store.

Trainwreck is available to stream on Netflix in the US, and on NOW TV in the UK.

2015 rom-com Trainwreck featured a memorable sex scene between Amy Schumer and John Cena – and Schumer has revealed what stood in for the wrestler’s penis.

Directed by the man behind The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up, Judd Apatow, the film symbolised a huge changing of the tide in Cena’s career as he transferred over from professional wrestling to acting (if there’s much of a difference).

Schumer, who played boozy magazine writer Amy Townsend on screen, spoke to Gregg Hughes on Opie Radio about her co-star’s prop phallus during their sex scene.

Asked if she saw Cena’s penis for real, the actress replied: “I don’t think I saw his penis, he was wearing like a little leotard thing.

“It was a closed set when we were doing the sex scene, but slowly people just started coming in – but it was not at all for me, it was totally to see him in action.”

Schumer’s recollection from filming was that she walked past the movie’s prop guy who was ‘whittling’ something down especially for Cena’s character Steve, which turned out to be a wooden penis stand-in.

She then likened Cena to that of a ‘refrigerator on top of me’, before waxing lyrical about his comic capabilities.

“I was dying laughing all the time, just… they had to redo my makeup because I was cry-laughing, because he’s so f**king funny,” revealed the 43-year-old.

“He’s a genius, most of his lines he just said [off the cuff]. He was speaking Chinese, it was so crazy. He was so funny.”

During an interview on The Howard Stern Show, Cena himself discussed working on Trainwreckwhich also starred Bill Hader, Tilda Swinton and basketball legend LeBron James.

Describing it as a ‘Spandex sock’, he said that Schumer and Apatow went above and beyond to make sure he felt comfortable shooting their characters’ intimate sequence.

He explained that they initially cleared the room so that he didn’t feel intimidated, however, Cena ‘didn’t care’ about stripping off to begin with.

“That scene started with a camera operator, focus puller and a boom guy… by the end of the scene, they had catering set up in there, everybody was in there,” he joked.

“But I think the more comfortable you can be with it, the more you lose yourself in the thing.”

According to the former WWE megastar, inspiration for this hilarious sex scene originated directly from Schumer’s personal life, as she once had ‘sex with a guy who was way to athletic for her’.

Let’s be honest; John Cena has played his fair share of random characters in movies.

From a less than a minute-long cameo as a merman in Barbie, to an impersonator in Ricky Stanicky, the 47-year-old has had some more memorable performances.

Like the time he played Steven in 2015’s Trainwreck alongside Amy Schumer.

And the comedian revealed she had an X-rated ‘major regret’ about her sex scene with Cena where she said he was ‘inside her’.

While Cena has admitted he didn’t tell his fiancée about the comedic steamy moment in the film, and describing it as pretty ‘awkward’, Schumer was however ‘very into it’.

In Trainwreck, Schumer is a bit of a commitment-phobe who doesn’t think she can handle monogamy before she meets that guy.

But before that, one of her partners includes gym-rat Steven, who she strips down with as he promises to ‘fill you with protein’ and ‘put my green drink in you’.

During an Aussie chat show, Schumer was asked how she kept a straight face as Cena’s modesty was only just about protected.

“Because he was actually inside me. Who am I to stop him?” she joked.

And speaking during press interviews around the release, she added: “It’s a whole universe, that butt… it’s not even human.

“It felt like having a refrigerator on top of me.”

And to MTV Australia, Schumer admitted: “I think it was probably harder for him. He had to, like, do something. I just did what I usually do when I have sex. Just lay there, so yeah.”

She then went on to reveal a bit of a regret over the scene; she ‘didn’t get to feel his balls’.

“It’s a major regret of mine, major regret,” the star joked.

During an appearance on the Club Shay Shay podcast, Cena explained how awkward it is to film a sex scene.

Pointing at the podcast crew during the recording, he said: “This is the thing — right now, you guys at home think it’s just us. No, there’s a whole f**king world back here,” before adding there were even more on set of the film.

He continued: “There are so many people you need to make a movie. There is nothing intimate about it. Nothing.

“So it’s real embarrassing, and on top of that, to do a comedic sex scene when you’re making fun of yourself.”

And while he described the awkwardness, Schumer joked on Instagram: “John, how dare you?”

Sharing a broken heart in the caption, she said: “That sex scene meant a lot to me, and I was, like, very into it. And I’m in love with you.”

No matter how many weird and random roles he plays, there’s a few performances from John Cena that stand out.

And no, I’m not including his less than a minute as a merman alongside Dua Lipa in Barbie. But his role as gym rat Steven in Trainwreck has to be up there.

He’s one of the boyfriends who Amy Schumer’s character has before finally meeting the right guy. And part of their relationship is a rather comedic sex scene when Steven promises to ‘fill you with protein’.

But while it all sounds like a bit of a laugh, Cena explained why the scene where he was ‘inside her’ was ‘real embarrassing’.

With Steven already struggling to ‘talk dirty’ and ‘mix it up a little bit’ as requested, it escalates as he ends up throwing out phrases in Mandarin.

So, not only is it cringe to watch but apparently it was cringe to film.

Cena told the Club Shay Shay podcast: “Amy is an angel, she made the environment so comfortable, and then when I got the part, eventually they were like, ‘Yeah, it’s a sex scene. We want you to do elaborate and crazy stunt sex, and all those lines you had?

We’re probably not going to use them, we’re just going to do this stunt sex scene.’”

He then went on to signal to the crew at the podcast recording as he said ‘there’s a whole f**king world back there’.

“There are so many people you need to make a movie. There is nothing intimate about it. Nothing,” Cena explained

“So it’s real embarrassing, and on top of that, to do a comedic sex scene when you’re making fun of yourself.”

Having felt pretty embarrassed on set, the WWE legend then didn’t go home and tell his partner all about it, instead keeping her in the dark.

Cena was dating Nikki Bella at the time as he explained in an interview with Conan he hadn’t expected to get the role in the first place.

He said: “Honestly I didn’t think I’d get the part. I kept putting it off not telling Nicole and not having the discussion of, ‘Hey there may be some graphic scenes.’

“So I got it and I couldn’t say no, so I kind of walked in one day and was like, ‘Hey, I’m kind of just doing this.’ And that was the wrong approach.”

“She has such beautiful brown eyes and they glowed with red hellfire.”

Cena finally said: “She has such a great smile but she turned into like the alien and the predator at once.”

John Cena has played his fair share of random movie characters from his recent role as an impersonator in Ricky Stanicky to an ex-special forces op in Freelance.

And in 2015, he portrayed one of Amy Schumer’s character’s flings in Trainwreck. Cena recently recalled an ‘awkward sex scene’ he had to film with his co-star that she was ‘very into’.

During the film, columnist Amy asks her gym bunny partner Steven (Cena) to ‘mix it up a little bit’ and to ‘talk dirty’. But he struggles with this and promises to ‘fill you with protein’ and ‘put my green drink in you’.

The hilarious scene escalates as he throws out phrases in Mandarin – but apparently it was just as cringe to film as it is to watch.

Cena told the Club Shay Shay podcast: “Amy is an angel, she made the environment so comfortable, and then when I got the part, eventually they were like, ‘Yeah, it’s a sex scene. We want you to do elaborate and crazy stunt sex, and all those lines you had?

“We’re probably not going to use them, we’re just going to do this stunt sex scene.”

While we might have gotten used to seeing the wrestler in the nude, he says filming a sex scene is ‘the worst’.

Pointing at the crew during the podcast recording, he said: “This is the thing — right now, you guys at home think it’s just us. No, there’s a whole f**king world back here,” before explaining there were even more on set of the film.

He continued: “There are so many people you need to make a movie. There is nothing intimate about it. Nothing.

He said having this whole audience on set watching him trying ‘to have the most awkward sex’ possible with Schumer doesn’t ‘suck’, but it’s ‘just different than you all think it is’.

And while Cena explained all this awkwardness of the iconic 2015 scene, the film’s star – who also wrote it – shared a reaction to her Instagram Stories.

The comedian joked: “John, how dare you?”

Sharing a broken heart in the caption, she said: “That sex scene meant a lot to me, and I was, like, very into it. And I’m in love with you.”
